FLORIDA GOLF CART DRIVING RULES & SAFETY
Age & License Requirements
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the following requirements must be met to drive our LSVs (Low-Speed Vehicles):
- Age Requirement: Drivers must be 21 years or older.
- Driver’s License & Insurance: A valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance are required to rent and operate our street-legal golf carts.
Restricted Neighborhoods
Check Before You Book Certain communities in the Destin, Miramar Beach, and 30A areas have specific rules that may restrict the use of street-legal golf carts. Before finalizing your reservation, we strongly recommend checking with your property manager to confirm that golf carts are allowed at your vacation rental.
Important: No refunds will be issued if a community restriction prevents you from using your rental.
Golf cart rentals are currently not permitted in the following neighborhoods:
- Rosemary Beach
- Alys Beach
- Prominence
- Watersound
- Seaside
- WaterColor
- Sandestin
This list is not exhaustive. If you're unsure, please confirm with your property manager before booking.
Golf Cart Rental Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. Either party may cancel this rental agreement at any time by providing written notice. Our refund policy is based on the timing of your cancellation:
More than 3 weeks before start date:
- Full refund of all prepaid fees.
Between 1 and 3 weeks before start date:
- 50% refund of the total amount paid.
Within 1 week of start date
- No refunds or credits
Salty Golf Carts reserves the right to cancel a reservation at any time for any reason, including failure to comply with rental terms or the unsafe or illegal operation of a golf cart. If we cancel your reservation prior to the start date, you will receive a full refund of any prepaid fees.
Driving Boundaries & Local Laws
Our LSVs are designed for safe travel on designated public roads. Here’s where you can and cannot drive in Destin, Miramar Beach & 30A:
✓ Permitted Areas
- Public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less
✕ Restricted Areas
- Highway 98 (Emerald Coast Parkway) — not allowed
- Sidewalks, grass, bike paths, curbs, or beaches
- Off-road areas or trails
General Rules: Always yield to pedestrians, follow local signage, and drive cautiously in high-traffic areas for safety.

Before switching directions (Forward/Reverse).

Before turning and be extra cautious on uneven or wet surfaces.

At night to enhance visibility for you and others.

Before reversing to ensure the area is clear.
Golf Cart Parking & Charging
To ensure proper parking and avoid fines, follow these guidelines:
- Park only in designated vehicle parking areas.
- Any citations or tickets issued during your rental period will be charged to the renter.
- When not in use, keep the cart plugged in to ensure it is fully charged for your next ride.
